Polishing is the main way to bring the car to the initial gloss and shine, but it comes with many risks: overheat the varnish and make holograms, cut off unnecessary clear coat, or even make new scratches altogether. During practical exercises, exploring the grade of damage with thickness gauge, electronic microscope, students make tests of final results with various combinations of polishing pads and compounds on the surface.
Training begins with an introduction of BigFoot Polishing System, then we study the types of paintwork, possible defects and remedies according to the RUPES methodology. In the practical part, students learn how to select a tool for the task, how to handle different types of equipment in correct way, how to control the pressure and how to choose necessary polishing technique, assess damage and the amount of work, select a recipe of pads and compounds depending on the type of the clear coat. Also, we teach our students to pay attention to the form of the surface.
As a result students can easily:
- assess of the state of paint
- prepare of the working area
- choose correct tool for the job
- choose correct combo of pads and compounds
- analyze what time they will need for perfect finish depending on request of the customer
- polish clear coat, clear plastic, wheels and brakes, chrome and aluminium parts, gel coat, wood elements
